Trekking El Torreón
This is a program aimed at people in good but not in an exceptional physical condition. It involves a downhill 6/7 hours walk carrying a small backpack with 1 1/2 lts of water and something to eat such as picnic lunch.
We will start in Salta city early in the morning (07:00 AM) and, after two hours driving we will get to the foot of the mountain road named 'Cuesta del Obispo'. We will leave the car there and take a local bus (regular Salta-Cachi) that will take us to the top of the road at 3200m above sea level after climbing 1000m in 20 kms of distance.
We will start the trek down right at the beginning of the Los Cardones National Park in Enchanted Valley. We will start trekking down on the edge of the Torreon Hill surrounded by spectacular scenery of the mountain road on the left and valley landscapes on the right. If the weather is good, we may have a show of condors flying around us during our walk.
During this journey, we will also go through a small canyon with cave paintings dating back to the Indians in the 16th century. Just to say, I have done this trek with family groups, including 12 years-old kids and once with a 70 years-old grandmother.
By the way, the next day you will discover new muscles in your body that you never realize they existed before! After we finish the trek, we will return to Salta on the same way. Estimated arrival time: 6:00 PM.
